Reflection Question for the day: I am unworthy to receive you…

Jacob is saying that he is unworthy of God’s kindness, as he waits for the arrival of his brother Esau, who’s coming to meet him with 400 men. Jacob fears Esau, unsure of how he will be received, so he acknowledges God’s kindness and loyalty in hopes of having it now.

In the Mass we say “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” Why do we say this? How is this statement preparing us for the Eucharist?
