Book of 2 Samuel - Week 1

Woohoo! We are so excited to be starting a *NEW* study with all of you!
It's been over a year since we blogged through the bible and it feels so good to be back here and to be reading and studying the word of God together!

We are so excited in fact that we've created a *NEW* "Be Brave" - 2 Samuel 10:12 Bookmark just for this study!

Here is our Week 1 Reading Schedule:

This time around we are going about our study of the scripture a bit differently. We will still select a #VerseoftheDay from the assigned chapter to read for the day but we are also going to assign each chapter a #CompanionVerse to consider as well.

Week 1 Verse of the Day:
Monday:
2 Samuel 1:26
"I grieve for you!"

Companion Verse: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4

Tuesday:
2 Samuel 2:6
"I will be generous to you for having done this."

Companion Verse: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." Proverbs 11:24

Wednesday:
2 Samuel 3:39
"May the Lord requite the evildoer in accordance with his evil deed."

Companion Verse: "Be Still. Let go and Let God." Psalm 46:10

Thursday:
2 Samuel 4:9
"As the Lord lives, who rescued me from all difficulty..."

Companion Verse: "When you go through deep water, I will be with you." Isaiah 43:2

Friday:
2 Samuel 5:23
"You must not attack frontally, but circle their read and meet them before the mastic trees."

Companion Verse: "The Lord himself will fight for you, just stay calm." Exodus 14:14

2 Samuel Week 1 Reflection Questions:
Monday:
Isn't it reassuring to know that we are going to be reunited in the afterlife with those we have lost? David grieved and so should we. What/ Who are you grieving?

Tuesday:
God is generous to us. How have you been kind and generous to others?

Wednesday:
The Lord will make the appropriate return for a wrongdoing - it's not your job to requite (to correct a wrongdoing) - it is His. What wrongdoing are you hanging onto that you need to let go?

Thursday:
No matter what you are going through God will see you through it. He will rescue you from all difficulty. What difficulty has God already rescued you from? What difficulty do you need his help with now?

Friday:
God has a wonderful plan for your life! David went through multiple trials as God prepared him to be King of Israel before he was great. What difficulty have you been facing head on? How could you "circle around it" to beat it with God?
