Genesis 22 FREE Bookmark & our NEXT Study!

Greetings All!
We are excited to release our final Genesis Bookmark! We've enjoyed creating them for you and hope you have enjoyed adding some color to the "Good Book". This week's selection was inspired by the following verse...
"God himself will provide the sheep for the holocaust."
Genesis 22:8

The meaning behind this verse is so incredibly powerful, let's walk through it together...
Abraham has been asked, by God, to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. (Genesis 22: 2-3)
Abraham's faith in the Lord and all the Lord will provide is incredible. He knows that if he believes in the Lord, follows God's commands, and if he is dedicated to the Lord, he will be saved. He does not question God's request, he does not argue, he simply does. He readies his son for the holocaust, all the well believing that God would provide the holocaust himself, whatever that meant, Abraham was willing to go forward, to sacrifice his son to the Lord. (Genesis 22: 7-8).
God realizes how devout Abraham is and sends an angel to stop him just before he is about to offer up Isaac. (Genesis 22: 11-12)
In the end the end the angel tells Abraham "I swear by myself, says the Lard, that because you acted as you did in to withholding from me your beloved son, I will bless you abundantly and your descendant as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore..." (Genesis 22: 16-17)

There is so much more to this story than meets the eye...God does not truly intend for Abraham to kill Isaac, that would be crazy, what God wants to know is that Abraham is devout, that he is upright and willing to follow God, no matter what. It's a test of faith and Abraham passes with flying colors.
What's incredible about this story, is that in the end God does this very same act for us, but doesn't stop just before it's time to actually follow through. He loves us so much that he offers his son as a holocaust for our sins..."For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him." (John 3: 16-17).
